community centered on the gospel.

As we seek to live, speak, and serve as the very presence of Jesus for our neighborhoods, we believe it's only natural for God's people to be in relationship with one another, as well as seeking to share those relationships with others in our neighborhood. Though our primary source of intergenerational connection, spiritual equipping, and worship should always be expected when we gather as a local church on Sunday mornings, we believe Home Groups are an added bonus to the life of the church and can be very helpful in our growth in Christ.

As we grow together in our maturity in following Christ, we believe that the marks of a mature disciple or follower of Jesus Christ is someone who consistently walks by faith, is communicating their faith, and multiplying their faith. This can only happen in the context of smaller, more intentional discipleship relationships that we hope are birthed out of Home Group Communities.

What can I expect?

Home Group Meetings are gatherings of 8-12 people meeting in individual homes throughout the area during the week and is a great opportunity for Christian community to be developed and fostered. People are introduced to what it means to be a Christian, encouraged in their relationship with God and encouraged to serve the needs of the Newtown Square area with their gifts.

Home Groups also provide an opportunity for intimacy, mutual support, practical love and service, learning about the Christian faith, prayer, and sharing of what God is doing in our midst.

In our experience, Home Groups are most successful when there is a combination of those with the gift of hospitality + those with the gift of teaching + those interested in spiritual growth and depth of relationship. Food, relationships, and a healthy desire among the group for God's word to shape and direct all of life is something you should expect at any of our Home Group Meetings.

Who leads a Home Group?

Home Group Meetings are led by those who are committed to the purpose of discipleship and seeing their neighborhoods transformed by the gospel. They are those who are willing to take a step of faith in their growth as spiritual leaders in the church and take the time and responsibility for its consistency and it’s growth.

Can we host a home Group?

Absolutely. Hosting in your home DOES NOT necessarily equal leading one! Don’t be afraid to host a Home Group Meeting. If you love hosting things in your home but don't necessarily feel ready or able to lead one, that's ok. We need you to be that vital part in helping to build community. Which, by the way, is also leadership ; ) Our Home Group Meeting leaders are a vital part in the growth of our church and so we are committed to spending time helping to develop their own personal growth and leadership. All our groups will be led by trained leaders from the congregation who are given continued oversight and support. Appropriate time and attention is given to help leaders feel equipped and empowered in their discipleship as leaders in the church for the sake of those under their leadership.
